Annual Events |
Watford Grammar School for Girls has always considered traditions to be like gravity that keeps us anchored, such as the annual Founders Day celebration. The day reminds us that we are part of a community that exists now, but also with a community where generations of students and staff have come before us. Last Friday current students celebrated the day with the annual walk to St Mary's Church in the town centre. The Church and school services focused on one aspect of our vision “Women as Changemakers” and this was exemplified by our honoured guests, Dr Jane Mainwaring, the Bishop of Hertford who gave the sermon at the church and Dr Neha Chopra who spoke in school.
Central to the service is to thank the benefactors who gave generously to establish our school and we continue this example by asking our students to contribute towards the Service Fund, which supports students who would otherwise not be able to attend trips and other school events. Finally, the role and responsibility of The Head Girl team was handed from one to the next and the outgoing team celebrated a fantastic year of service by throwing their boaters in the air.
