Dear Old Girls

It is with a heavy heart that I have to relay the news that Ms Yvonne Bateson died very early this morning. Miss Bateson retired in September 2021 after 31 years of teaching in WGGS and was thoroughly enjoying her new life in Norfolk.  Miss Bateson was a much loved Head of Year and Classics teacher, and I know both current and past pupils will be shocked and upset by this news.   She had the gift of relating to the students in such a sincere and supportive way, and this has both inspired and comforted so many, over so many years.   She will be missed by both current and former students and staff for her unfailingly wicked sense of humour and friendliness.

We are in contact with her family and will find a way to remember Ms Bateson in the most appropriate way we can. If you would like to pass on a message of condolence to her family you may wish to write a message via this Form which will then be collated and presented to her family or if you wish to write a separate card then these will be passed on to her family if you send it to my office.
