We are very sad to hear that former English teacher Mr Selerie has passed away.
Mr Selerie started teaching English at Watford Grammar School for Girls at the end of the 70s.
As one former WGGS student said, "he was totally inspiring as a teacher. I particularly loved his lessons on poetry. He was always very encouraging to student's interpretations. Poetry was a passion of his and he later wrote his own poetry which was published."
Mr Selerie has published many books and critical essays, including Music’s Duel: Selected Poems and Collected Sonnets. He was an alumni of Oxford University and you can read more about his experience here .
If anyone from the community has any memories or stories of Mr Selerie, please do share them in the comments section.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
