The school has been devastated by the news that Year 13 student Mariam El-Husseiny died suddenly on Wednesday 5th June.  Mariam was a truly wonderful girl who lit up every room she walked into. She was charismatic, bubbly and a bright student who loved people and being with people. She cared so much for everyone, always thinking of others before herself. She loved learning and we loved teaching her. Her parents and brother say not only was she a lovely student but an amazing sister, friend and the best daughter you could ever ask for.

The community have been supporting each other with compassion, kindness and understanding, with many of us joining the family at the funeral, leaving flowers by the Tennet Centre and contributing towards a Book of Condolence. Mariam's parents have also set up a Just Giving Page to raise money for Save the Children, a charity that reflects Mariam’s unwavering sprit of hope and love : Justgiving -Mariam-El-Husseiny.

Whilst both groups and individuals have been able to access specialist support in school, the greatest support for all is being a member of our incredibly compassionate community.
